Nomex Pants
|
Nomex pants are flame resistant trousers. These trousers are made of NOMEX. Nomex is a Meta - agamid material that is flame resistant. Nomex is a kind of polymer that is closely related to nylon. An American based chemical company called DUPONT during early 60's developed this material. This material is rigid and more durable due to the presence of aromatic backbones. This material is available in two forms; fiber form and sheet form. This kind of polymer is used as fabric where resistance from heat and flame is required.
Nomex pants have a variety of uses. The fire fighters racing car drivers use them. Fire fighters use nomex pants when they go for any operations. On the other hand, the racing car drivers also use nomex pants. This kind of pants helps to protect the drivers from the intense heat an invisible flame generated by the nitromethane, ethanol and methanol fuels in the racing car engines. Nomex clothing helps to keep the drivers comfortable on the track and protects them from fire. There is a particular quality of nomex pants called the K1 nomex pants. These K1 nomex pants are designed tomeet the FIA (Federation Internationale de Automobile) 8856 homologation standards and are competitively priced so that race drives of all budgets can have the protection when they need. Military pilots also wear suits made up of nomex to protect themselves from any kind of fire; example fire in the cockpit or any other kind of accidents they may face. The suits the military pilot generally wears to protect himself or herself from flame and fire are made up 92 percent nomex. Fire fighters who fight natural cover fire or the wild fire also wear Nomex Pants. The Naval Combat Forces of Canada also wear jackets and pants made up of Nomex. The United States Military forces as well as the United States Navy also use Nomex pants. Another very important use of Nomex garment is in the US space programmers. Nomex is used to make garments for Thermal Micrometeoroid Garment on the Extravehicular Mobility Unit and ACES pressure suit. Both of these are used for fire and extreme environment. Nomex is also used in the making of overall and coverall. These garments are generally regarded as protective clothing w3hile working. Some people call an overall a "pair of overalls" by analogy with "pair of trousers". |
